                                                  Steve Solmonson

                                                    Inducted 2020

Steve joined the BRA in 1985 as the New York Yankees when he was stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. It was a very fitting franchise for Steve as his all-time favorite player is Lou Gehrig. Steve even gave his son Kyle the middle name Gehrig in honor of the Iron Horse.

Steve managed the Yankees for three seasons and then switched to the Cincinnati Reds for two years. Steve was able to get his beloved Minnesota Twins franchise in 1991 and stayed with the Twins until 2006 when the allure of finally getting out of the Metrodome and enjoying outdoor baseball again was too much and he switched teams to his favorite National League team, the San Diego Padres.

Steve has won four championships and brought home the BRA crown in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2001.

After retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1997, Steve moved to Minnesota where he continued his career in public relations and marketing. In 2004, Steve felt a call to seminary and today works as a hospice chaplain, with a focus on military veterans at end-of-life.

Steve's "stress-relief" is working part-time for the Minnesota Twins in guest services. He also worked for the New York Mets as a graduate student at the University of South Carolina while working on his master's thesis during his Air Force Institute of Technology scholarship.

Steve and his life, Diane, are the proud parents of two children, Lauren (34) and Kyle (32). They have two dogs and three cats (all rescues). Steve has collected baseball cards and memorabilia since 1966 when he opened his first pack of Topps. He has an extensive collection of Lou Gehrig items and focuses on game used items and stadium artifacts.
