Ron Radigonda

Inducted 2023

I joined the BRA in its second year in 1979 encouraged by two Sacramento Bee Sports Writers, Gary Voet and Mark McDermott. At the time I worked for the City of Sacramento Recreation and Parks Department and was involved in running the Adult Sports Leagues. I had a lot of interaction with Gary and Mark as they not only reported on our programs they played in the programs as well. Little did I know that joining BRA back then would be a 40+ year journey that brings relevance to the MLB season each and every year.

I had played APBA from the 1962 season and it was an easy conversion over Replay Baseball that was the game used at the time in BRA. I fondly remember playing face to face and rolling the dice with individuals that became friends. That core group of Sacramento Area Residents that were the nucleus of the league became friends and that friendship with many has continued on to today. Also, the Annual Draft Day at the Folsom Telegraph Newspaper was memorable. Player cards on the table with half the league in attendance and the other half on the phone calling in their picks. El President, Jack Kohn, supplying the hot dogs and drinks to get us through the draft.

In addition to the great friendships BRA has facilitated, playing in BRA makes the MLB season so much more interesting. For me, following your players and looking for nuggets in next years' draft is what makes BRA fun and enjoyable. Running a close second is working out trades with fellow managers.

A sincere thanks to Jack for running a great league for 40+ years and thanks to all that have been a part of this wonderful endeavor.
