Mark McDermott

Mark McDermott is arguably the best manager in BRA history. His six League Championships are tied for the most in League history. Mark is a charter member of the BRA and directed the Reds to the very first BRA Championship in 1978. He followed up with five more Titles as his Reds won again in 1982 and 1986, his Padres in 1993 and 1996 and then his record sixth Title at the helm of the Marlins in 2012.

Mark was also instrumental in the early success of the League as he published yearly All-Star teams as well as the end of season Yearbook.

Mark was an accomplished pitcher in his younger years, starring at American River College as a two way player and then at Sacramento State University as a pitcher under legendary coach Cal Boyes.

Mark coached at Sacramento State University in 1976 and 1977 and then at American River College from 1978 until 1983.
​
Mark was a sportswriter at the Sacramento Bee for 37 years before retiring in 2008.
He has been inducted into the LaSalle Club Baseball Hall of Fame, the Sac-Joaquin Section Hall of Fame and the Greater Sacramento Softball Association Hall of Fame.

Mark's and his late wife Vicki (2007) raised three children, son Devin and daughters Chanel and Heather. He is the proud grandfather to three grand kids.
